FAQ

What's the difference between wooden chopsticks and steel-tipped ones like the Kuro Wenge?

Wooden chopsticks like our Noir Ginkgo pair are lighter and give more grip when you're eating something slippery — noodles, dumplings, that kind of thing. The Kuro Wenge has a steel tip fused into the wengewood handle, so you get the warmth of timber in the hand but a bit more durability at the point where chopsticks usually wear out first. Comes down to feel more than anything — some people just prefer the weight of steel.

Can I put my chopsticks in the dishwasher?

Depends on the material. Anything with a wood handle — Kuro Wenge, Noir Ginkgo — should be hand washed. Dishwashers are too harsh on timber over time, the heat and detergent dry it out and it can start to crack or split at the tip. Steel pieces like the Sora Steel rest can usually go in, but honestly hand washing extends the life of most of these pieces regardless.

How do I stop my wooden chopsticks from cracking?

Keep them dry between uses and don't leave them soaking in the sink. A light rub with food-safe oil every couple of months helps too, especially with darker woods like wenge — it keeps the grain from drying out. If you notice the surface getting a bit rough, that's usually your cue it's time for an oil.
